History

Andrew has always had a knack for woodworking, even as a small child.   Coming from a family of skilled carpenters and engineers, this is no big surprise.  It was only after becoming an avid guitar player during his teenage years when he thought to use his carpentry skill to build a guitar.  At the age of 18 he built his first electric guitar from scratch and found his passion.  At that time he focused on making solidbody electric guitars.

After college, his skill and passion for guitar building led him to nylon string guitar makers, Cordoba Guitars, where he was able to push his skill further learning classical guitar building from Kenny Hill.  Along with Kenny, Andrew helped build Cordoba's USA manufacturing department.  He was able to gain access to and analyze guitars from historic builders Antonio De Torres, Hermann Hauser, Santos Hernandez, Manuel Reyes and Miguel Rodriguez in order to develop the "Master Series" and head up it's production.  As Cordoba's Master Luthier,  his prototypes, custom builds and "Limited Edition" Master Series guitars have turned heads and have become sought after for their beautiful woods, excellent craftsmanship and impressive sound.

Continuing to expand his skill and learn all he can, Andrew tried his hand at steel string acoustic building.  Picking the brains of the nearby guitar builders Matthew and Jean Larrivee, he built a couple prototypes.  But not until Cordoba acquired Guild Guitars and Andrew met and worked with Ren Ferguson, did he really step foot into the steel string world.  Moving from Cordoba to Yamaha has given Andrew even more opportunities to dive deep into the design and sound of steel string acoustic guitars.  Working as the Sr. Acoustic Guitar Builder for Yamaha Guitar Development, he helped develop high end acoustic guitars, utilizing his experience with nylon string and steel string acoustic guitar design and construction.

All the while, Andrew has continued building Enns Guitars, constantly refining his designs.
